Tensions rise in Northern Syria as Turkish-backed forces mobilize

afrinpost

The cities of Azaz, Al-Bab, and Afrin in Northern Syria, which are under Turkish control, have witnessed military mobilization as Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya militias arrested elements affiliated with “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham/Al-Nusra Front,” which is classified as a terrorist organization.

According to “afrinpost” reporter, militants from “Al-Shat checkpoint,” which belongs to Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya, seized a military vehicle belonging to the “Tajamou’ Al-Shahbaa” which is loyal to the terrorist Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, and arrested three leaders of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and other members of Al-Shahbaa Assembly on Thursday evening.

Our reporter pointed out that the “Harakat Ahrar al-Sham and Tajamou’ Al-Shahbaay” militias have mobilized a massive military force in the city of Al-Bab and requested other factions under its control in the city to raise their combat readiness. Meanwhile, other convoys headed towards the occupied city of Azaz, which also witnessed an increase in combat readiness by Al-Jabha al-Shamiya, the Northern Storm Brigade, the military police, and the closure of the road between Kefin roundabout and Jamal roundabout in the occupied city. The surroundings of Kawa roundabout in Afrin also witnessed a mobilization of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and its factions.

It is worth noting that since the formation of the “Tajamou’ Al-Shahba” in early February 2023, the region has witnessed military tension with al-Jabha al-Shamiya militia. The militia loyal to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham is refusing any normalization between Turkey and the Syrian regime, which threatens Turkish agendas in the region.”
