Yesterday morning, Turkish security forces raided the house of Hussein Haj Nasser, a Kurdish zurna player from Afrin, in Istanbul and arrested him on charges of dealing with the Autonomous Administration.

Hussein, 45 years old, is a zurna player and comes from a prominent artistic family in the occupied Kurdish region. He has been living in Istanbul for five years and works in the concert and wedding industry.

The Kurdish community in Turkey has expressed concern over the government’s crackdown on Kurdish culture and language. There have been numerous arrests of artists, writers, and activists who are seen as promoting Kurdish identity.

The arrest of Hussein Haj Nasser is the latest example of this ongoing situation, and his family and supporters are calling for his immediate release.
