In a recent development in the occupied region of Afrin, the economic office belonging to the Turkish-affiliated “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia seized agricultural lands in the town of Rajo, despite objections from the landowners. A brawl broke out as a result between the militia members and the landowners, during which the former reportedly made death threats towards the latter.
As per the report provided by our correspondent, Abu Haddo, who holds the responsibility of overseeing economic activities for the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia, accompanied by a group of other members, including his siblings, unlawfully took possession of a portion of agricultural land situated at the rear of the marketplace in Rajo town. The land in question is the property of Ahmed Bakr Rashid and Murad Bakr, who have planted wheat on it. The members of the militia commenced the construction of a road and the installation of tents on the land, without the landowners’ consent.
The landowners protested and clashed with Abu Haddo and his brothers, resulting in Abu Haddo and his brother Nabil Al-Ashqar pulling out their weapons and threatening to kill the landowners in front of passersby.
In a similar context, the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia rented out the previously seized land belonging to the Barkhana family, who are Arab residents of Afrin, in the Al-Mahmoudiyah neighborhood, to families interested in setting up tents for $30 per tent.
According to a previous report by “afrinpost,” IDPs from the Ghouta region have allegedly taken over a piece of land that belongs to Osman Agha family in the occupied city of Afrin. The IDPs have reportedly cemented the ground and erected tents on the seized land. Additionally, it has been reported that other IDPs have also occupied land belonging to Mahmoud Aisu, near the Bazaar square, and turned it into a camp.
In another incident, IDPs from al-Ghouta region seized a piece of land belonging to citizen Mohammed Horo from the village of Sheikhurzeh in the Bulbul sub-district, near the Afrin River on the Aleppo road, to set up a camp.
