Turkish authorities arrest two Kurds and release a third in Syria’s Afrin

Our reporter in Afrin stated that the Turkish intelligence released Abd al-Rahman Ahmed Hassan, who is 33 years old, and from the village of Khalilaka, in return for paying a ransom of $1,500.

“Abdul Rahman” had recently returned from Turkey; however, the Turkish authorities arrested him on November 23, from his home in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, on charges of belonging to the “Asayish” security forces during the previous Autonomous Administration period, and he was taken to an unknown destination.

In a related context, the documentary report of the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria / No. 225 / issued last Saturday stated that the Turkish intelligence and the “Civil Police in Rajo” had arrested the civilian “Omar Rashid Othman / 45/ years old” from the town of Beadina near Rajo, in late November. Omar was detained four days and a fine of $300 was imposed on him on charges of having (relations) with the Autonomous Administration. On the same charge, on November 24, 2022, the civilian “Muhammad Muhammad Shaaban / 32/ years old”, was also arrested, where he is still under arbitrary detention.

It is worth noting that 54 cases of arrest and kidnapping were monitored during the month of October 2022, 40 residents from Afrin, including two sisters, and 14 IDPs and militants. While 26 kidnapping cases were carried out by “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham”,
