In Afrin: Kurdish citizens arrested and other released on payment of ransom to TSO’s militias

Pro-Turkey militants continue to kidnap the Kurdish citizen with the aim of blackmailing them and paying ransoms, in light of the Turkish authorities’ regular discontinuation of their salaries.

Local sources reported that members of the Turkish-backed Military Police in coordination with militants of “al-Hamzah” militia, arrested on Sunday 27/6/2021, four Kurdish citizens from the village of Hasan Kelkawi/ Gundê Hesen village in Rajo sub-district, and took them to the military police headquarters in the district center. The military police demanded the payment of a ransom of 1,800 Turkish liras, as the arrested citizens were accused of going out on guard shifts, during the period of the former Autonomous Administration.

The arrested citizens are: 1- Fahim Nazmi Bayram (51 years), 2- Ezzat Hamid Bayram (52 ​​years), 3- Khalil Ali (50 years), 4- Samir (55 years).

In the village of Kokanê in Mobata / Maabatli sub-district, gunmen of the Turkish-backed “al-Hamzah Division” militia kidnapped on Saturday 19/6/2021 the 30-year-old Kurdish citizen Ahmed Muhammad Rashid and charged him on fallacious grounds as possessing weapons and dealing with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

Ahmed, who is married and has two children, was severely beaten and tortured during his detention, with the aim of extracting forced confessions from him to confirm the fabricated accusation, and blackmailing his family, which the recently appointed leader of al-Hamzah group, stipulated the payment of $5,000 (15 million Syrian pounds) for his release.

On Sunday, June 27, 2021, his family reached a settlement with the kidnappers by paying a part of the ransom amount, and directly releasing the citizen “Ahmed” on the condition that the rest of the amount is paid within a specified period, under the risk of kidnapping him for non-payment.

On the other hand, the pro-Turkey military police arrested yesterday, Tuesday, the young man, Muhammad Rasho, in the city of Afrin, on the well-known charge of cooperating with the Autonomous Administration.

The reporter indicated that the fate of the 35-year-old young man, Muhammad Rasho, who is from the village of Derwîş of Shara / Sharan sub-district, is still unknown.
