The Turkish-backed “Faylaq al-Sham” militia refuses to return an olive oil press to its owner, after dismantling and stealing its contents since more than three years, in the village of Draqliya of Bulbul sub-district, in Afrin.
According to our sources, the olive oil press, which was operating at full production capacity prior to the Turkish-Muslim Brotherhood invasion of the village of Draqliya, was seized by “Faylaq Al-Sham” militia, dismantled and stolen after occupying the village.
The sources indicated that its owner, the Kurdish citizen “Salah al-Din Sido” – from the village of Aboudane – had recently found out that the militia had installed his stolen press equipment in a building in the village of Meydanki – Sharan sub-district, and was operating it for its benefit, adding that the citizen “Sido” had filed a complaint with The Turkish authorities to restore his olive oil press. Anyway, the militia has so far refused to return it to him.
It is worth noting that more than 295 old and modern olive oil presses were operating in Afrin, but most of them were looted, and the rest of them, the owners are forced to pay half of the revenues of their resources to the militia leaders so that they do not lose all their presses, as happened in other presses.
