New attack and assault incidents against Kurds in Afrin amid widespread grape leaf season thefts

afrinpost – Exclusive

The Turkish-backed militants and IDPs, who were brought in by Turkey, continue to attack Kurdish citizens in the occupied Afrin region in northern Syria as part of the policies of oppression and humiliation carried out to push the remaining Kurds to displace and leave their properties to be seized by them.

In the context, our correspondents monitored a number of incidents, the most prominent of which were:

Grape leaves, from vineyards of the citizens of Abd al-Rahman Rashid and Hanan Rashid, were stolen in the village of Matina, in the Sheran sub-district, estimated for about 200 grape bushes.

IDPs stole the grape leaf crop from an orchard belonging to the Kurdish citizen (Muhammad Shukri – from Rajo sub-district) residing in Afrin, and the orchard is located near the entrance to Rajo in the vicinity of Rajo Prison / Habsa Rash.

IDPs supported by the Turkish-backed “Jabhat al-Shamiya” militia stole the grape leaf crop from the vineyard of the citizen (Mustafa Khalil – from Maabatli sub-district) located near the village of Qentere.

Three gunmen from “Faylaq al-Sham” militia, on 05/19/2021, attacked the 50-year-old citizen “Sherif Hamid Qanbar” beating him with sticks while pounding the grape leaf crop in the village of Gewanda – Meydana, after his wife prevented one of the IDP shepherds ( supported by the militia) who was herding his herd of sheep in the vineyard and tried to expel him.

The IDP shepherds from the Mawali clan (affiliated with Al-Shamiya Militia) attacked three Kurdish youths in the village of Elataniya – Rajo sub-district, after they tried to dissuade them from herding their sheep between the fields of the villagers. According to the Human Rights Organization in Afrin, the case of the attacked citizens (Givara, Aref and Mustafa) was transferred to the headquarters of the “Faylaq al-Sham” militia, which forced them to give up their right under threat.
