Kurdish citizen died under torture in Turkish-backed militias prison, in Afrin

Our sources reported that a Kurdish citizen from the village of Kurzêlê- Afrin, died about a week ago, as a result of the severe torture he had suffered in the prison of the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sham” militia, after kidnapping him after demanding his seized houses.

According to our sources, “Ahrar al-Sham” militia gunmen kidnapped the 47-year-old Yahya Ali Hamkaro, on April 18, from his home in the village of Kurzêlê, and severely beat him, because of his complaint with the Turkish authorities to retrieve his two houses confiscated by the militia gunmen.

The sources added that the citizen “Hamakro” was taken to the militia’s headquarters in the village to continue his torture in prison, until it extracted from him the waiver of claiming two homes belonging to his family members who were confiscated by the militia (one of the houses is located in the village and the other in Afrin), and then released after Two days after his kidnapping, however, his health condition greatly deteriorated after his return to the house, due to his severe torture at the hands of the gunmen in prison, which caused his kidneys to stop working, which led to his life (on 4/21/2021).
