The Turkish court in the occupied Afrin region issues a one-year prison sentence to a Kurdish youth who was kidnapped by Hamzat militia about five months ago, while he was on his way to Turkey to work there.
Afrinpost reporter reported that a Turkish court in the occupied city of Afrin issued a sentence on Monday 3/15/2021 against the young Kurdish citizen, Izzat Abd al-Rahman Mustafa (23 years), from the village of Gawrika of Jenderes district, to one year in prison for treason and joining a terrorist organization and dealing with the Syrian regime.
The citizen Ezzat was displaced after the Turkish aggression on the Kurdish region of Afrin in March 2018, and he arrived in Aleppo with his family through smuggling routes, and in early October 2020, he decided to travel to Turkey via smuggling routes, to work in Istanbul. Where his acquaintances work, and it was agreed with the smuggler to take him to al-Salama crossing in the city of Azaz, going from Manbij side. However, the smugglers changed to another route, heading to the town of Nubl, provided that they crossed the area controlled by “Hamzat” militia through Jabal Al Ahlam road and the village of Basuta to enter the city of Afrin.
However “Hamzat” militia kidnapped him, along with other people, upon entering their area of their control, and placed him in a prison they run in the town of Basuta.
The family of the citizen Ezzat began to ask about him after contact was lost with him for more than two months, and learned that he had been kidnapped by “Hamzat” militia, and that he was in the town of Basuta, then he was transferred to Afrin Central Prison in the village of Marate, and thus began communicating with lawyers in Afrin city, to work on his release, and the lawyers asked them for large sums of money to release him, but the family did not pay the amount due to the attorneys procrastination and bargaining methods.
Thus, he was presented to the court, which issued a decision to imprison him for a year last Monday, on charges of treason and relationship with a terrorist organization, as well as the Syrian regime simply because he came from the city of Aleppo.
