Today, Sunday, a demonstration took place, with the participation of dozens of children, students, and teachers from the people of Afrin who were forcibly displaced in the town of Tall Rifat in al-Shahba canton, to denounce the Turkish shelling of the massacres committed against children, calling on the international community to stop them.
During the demonstration, children raised pictures of their comrades, the victims of the shelling of the Turkish occupation and the Islamic militias affiliated with it, on the town of Tall Rifat, and signs that read: “We want to live a decent life on our land and our language”, “Do not mess with our games”, “Do not kill our childhood”, “Where are the organizations Protecting the rights of the child ”,“ With our knowledge and pens, we build our future. ”
The demonstration roamed the main streets in the town and chanted slogans condemning the Turkish aggression and the massacres it committed against children, and demanded the international community to stop the Turkish shelling and aggression, and confirmed the determination to continue steadfastness and resistance.
The demonstration stopped in front of the Russian point in the town of Tall Rifat, where a public opinion statement on behalf of the Training and Education Committee for Democratic Society in Afrin region was read. The statement was read in both Arabic and Kurdish.
The statement mentioned the model of the calm and normal life that children lived in Afrin before the Turkish forces’ aggression and the Islamic militias affiliated with it, which took place on 01/20/2021.
The statement also focused on the bloody massacres caused by the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood militias shelling on the areas of forced displacement, and because of which children were martyred, as well as the death of children due to mines.
The children asked the Russian leadership as the guarantor and the United Nations human rights organization, “When your children play in the gardens and enjoy their childhood, do you think of our childhood, when our lives are taken from us when we are young, do you not remember your children? Do you not know that we do not know from life except war, if you carry it upon you to protect us, then why are we killed every day? ”
The statement mentioned the complications caused by the war on children and asked again, “Who bears responsibility for this tragedy?”
The demonstration ended by chanting slogans saluting the resistance of the people of Afrin and Tal Rifaat and denouncing the Turkish occupation’s attacks and shelling.
