3 detainees from Afrin died in a Turkish prison in the countryside of Aleppo, due to an outbreak of tuberculosis

afrinpost – Exclusive

Today, Wednesday, afrinpost learned from its sources that three Kurdish detainees from the people of Afrin died in the notorious al-Rai prison as a result of their poor health conditions as a result of contracting the tuberculosis disease in the prison.

The sources (former detainees) stated that the three detainees died earlier, and were buried in the vicinity of the prison, their families were not informed of the news of their death until today. The prison is a government building located outside the town and has been converted to a prison.

Al-Rai prison, which is run by Turkish forces and Turkmen militias, currently contains, according to these sources, about 600 detainees, 100 of whom are women, noting that the occupation authorities transferred 150 detainees 6 months ago to Marate Prison in Afrin. Because of deteriorating health conditions, they are released in batches after their health conditions improved, so the number of detainees was around 750, except for the new arrests that took place after that period.

The detainees in the notorious al-Rai Prison are forcibly disappeared, since the Turkish-backed militias kidnapped them and forced them into that prison without having rights of visits and assigning lawyers and others, noting that there are many secret prisons run by Islamic militias with the knowledge of the Turkish occupation authorities in Afrin, used as kidnapping centers with the aim of collecting ransoms.

According to the same sources, al-Rai Prison does not have the most basic health care, and is considered a human slaughterhouse, as its inmates are deprived of the sun during their detention, and tuberculosis, skin diseases and other diseases spread among them, in addition to the most heinous torture methods practiced against them.
