The Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria and the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (Yekiti), on Wednesday 20/1/2021, issued a joint statement on the occasion of the third year of the aggression launched by Turkey with the Muslim Brotherhood militias on Afrin region.

The statement read: “After three years have passed since the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries of Afrin region and the total number of crimes and violations committed daily against those who remained of its original inhabitants, including plundering their property, killing, kidnapping and arrests, and imposing burdensome royalties to compel them to leave their homes and properties in order to perpetuate the process of change against the presence of the Kurds and their cultural identity, it has become clear to everyone with insight that the policy pursued by the Turkish state is a systematic policy to fight the Kurds first and complete its plan aimed at occupying more Syrian lands.

The statement condemned the Turkish state and Arabization policies practiced by the Turkish state and its agents against the Kurds of Afrin, appealing to the international community, bodies and organizations concerned with human rights, especially the forces involved in the Syrian affairs, to assume all their responsibilities and pressure Turkey to end its occupation of the region, to stop the forced displacement and to provide the necessary protection for the return of our Kurdish people to Afrin and all occupied Kurdish areas.
