Today, dozens of displaced people from Afrin went out in a protest demonstration in front of the regime’s army checkpoint in Al-Ahdath district in Al-Shahba areas to demand an end to the siege on the area, according to afrinpost reporter.
The correspondent stated that about two hundred demonstrators, including women and men, took to the streets in a demonstration that began walking from the town of Al-Ahdath to the checkpoint of the Fourth Division of the Syrian army in Al-Musalamiyyah, waving empty tanks, in reference to the loss of diesel fuel due to the siege imposed by the regime’s army on the area.
The correspondent confirmed that the demonstrators intended to continue the march to the city of Aleppo and break the siege, but the regime’s military barrier stood in the way of the demonstrators and prevented them from doing so, indicating that the checkpoint officials promised the people to pass the protesters ’demands to the concerned authorities.
Jamil Muhammad, one of the demonstrators, explained to afrinpost“the reason for his participation in the demonstration, saying, “For two and a half years, we have been facing the suffering of displacement at the hands of the Turkish occupation after we were forcibly displaced from our land, and on the other hand, our suffering is exacerbated by the siege and practices of the Syrian regime”.
As for the citizen Fatima Hassan, she said that it is necessary for the Syrian regime to lift the siege and allow essential materials to enter the region, asking it to stop these practices, stressing that the displaced from Afrin will face the suffering of displacement and all difficulties in order to return to their homes.
