On Monday, August 10, the Human Rights Organization Afrin – Syria and the Kurdish Red Crescent Organization issued a joint statement, in which they appealed to all countries of the world and their human rights and humanitarian organizations, led by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the International Red Cross and all of the relevant health institutions affiliated with it. To play its humanitarian and moral role towards the Syrian people in general and towards the displaced people of Afrin, especially in the areas of al-Shahba.
The two organizations called on those parties to provide urgent medical and relief assistance in order to limit the spread of this virus as much as possible and reduce the size of the humanitarian disaster that could befall the region in general.
At the beginning of August, the areas of al-Shahba witnessed 10 cases, of which two died, and fears of the spread of the virus, especially that the areas of al-Shahba are besieged from all sides except for a single crossing linking it to the city of Aleppo. Humanity in this geographical area that lacks the minimum conditions of health care, with the presence of a single hospital and some medical points with limited capabilities.
