Afrinpost – Special
The “Afrinpost” correspondent at the center of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria stated that the Turkish intelligence forces launched a widespread campaign of arrests in the center of the occupied city of Afrin, on the accusation that they belong to cells affiliated with the “Syrian Democratic Forces.”
The campaign resulted in the arrest of 17 Kurdish citizens, including 3 citizens, in the industrial zone alone, without the reporter being able to document the names of the detainees.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the arrest of 19 people, claiming that they were members of the “PKK” and “People’s Protection Units YPG”, 17 of whom were in Afrin, which the occupation refers to by the term “olive branch.” It is the name of the military invasion of the Kurdish region, which lasted from January 20 to March 18, 2018, in addition to 2 citizens in the so-called “Peace Spring” area, which refers to the occupied sector of the eastern Euphrates extending between the cities of “Serêkaniyê / Ras Al-Ain” and “Gre Spi / Tell Abyad”.
The Turkish defense justified the arrest on the basis of fabricated accusations that lack the basic elements of documentation, because the reality in the Afrin region and the occupied areas has become known, whereby various violations and crimes are committed by the Muslim Brotherhood militia in these areas, without being monitored or censored, as it suffices to accuse any individual of dealing with the “SDF” to justify abusing him.
