The number of cases infected with Corona virus in northeastern Syria increased to 50, after the Health Authority recorded 20 new cases on the fifth of August, and one death in Al-Shahba district, and a case recovered in Qamishlo.
In the interest of the security and safety of the forcibly displaced people of Afrin in Al-Shahba and the safety of the original inhabitants of the region, the Autonomous Administration in Al-Shahba took many preventive measures to prevent the spread of the Corona epidemic among the people.
The suffering of Al-Shahba is considered to be greater, and the possibility of the spread of the virus in it is wider, since the region has suffered from neglect by the ongoing war in Syria, and attacks are still ongoing against it by the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood militants.
The forcibly displaced people of Afrin in Al-Shahba live in five camps located in the villages of Al-Shahba and the district of Shirawa, and the risk is higher there because the tents are close to each other, and if the epidemic spreads among the people of the camps, the risk will be worse and will be difficult to control, unlike the people in the homes in each of the towns and villages.
The Autonomous Administration in the region has taken many necessary preventive measures to prevent further spread of the disease, and to ensure the safety of the people, including the distribution of educational leaflets informing how to prevent the spread of the virus and deal with it and those infected with.
Also, a lock down was imposed on the city of “Ahrazeh”, after the death of an infected person from the people of the city, and no one from outside the camps will be allowed to enter it, besides spraying pesticides and distributing medicines in villages and districts.
The infected patient with the Corona virus, a resident of “Ahrazeh”, arrived from the city of Aleppo several days ago, and he had a direct contact with people he knows before his death, while the quarantine will imposed on the people of “Ahrazeh” for 15 continuous days.
In light of these difficult circumstances and the spread of the Corona virus in the region, the suffocating siege imposed by the Syrian regime over Al-Shahba increases the suffering of the people, as pharmacies, medical centers and the region’s hospital lack the necessary drugs and medical supplies.
