“Al-Shamiya Front” militia dissolves the “23rd Squad” and arrests its leader

Afrinpost – Special

The occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria has witnessed a new number of incidents, which highlight the tension between the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood militias, and the matter deviating from the frameworks set by the Turkish occupation, so that the latter would directly intervene in order to reset the rhythm of these militias.

In the context, “Afrinpost” correspondent reported that the “Al-Shamiya Front” militia, with the support of Turkish intelligence, took control of the site of the former Ronahi newspaper / which was used by the “23rd Squad” militia as a headquarters.

It was reported that the militia leader, Samir al-Kul, had been arrested, and that he had been handed over to the Turkish forces.

The operation appears to be punitive, as it coincided with the “23rd Squad” militia shooting at Turkish vehicles in the town of Sejjo.

Also in Afrin center, the “civil and military police” militia closed the main street connecting “Kawa Roundabout” and “Nowruz Roundabout”, including the side streets in the old Afrin neighborhood to the traffic of cars.

The Kurdish passers-by in particular are under intense scrutiny, and investigations are being conducted with them. What is new this time is the participation of armed women with the “police” militia in searching women and their bags.
