Al-Amshat militia plans to seize more houses in the town of Shieh / Sheikh Al-Hadid

Afrinpost – Special

Afrinpost learned from its sources that the “Sultan Suleiman Shah” militia of the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood organization intends to seize more homes in the center of the town of Shieh / Sheikh Al-Hadid in the countryside of the occupied Afrin region by expelling Kurdish families from their homes to seize them in preparation for housing settlers in their place.

The sources pointed out that the militia asked families that have a small number of individuals (two people), especially the elderly, to hand over their homes and join other families, so that the militia could control more homes and house settlers instead of them.

The population of Shieh sub-district was 13871, according to the 2004 census. It is currently occupied mainly by the “Sultan Suleiman Shah Brigade / Al-Amshat” militia, in addition to the presence of “Al-Waqqas Brigade” militia in some villages surrounding the district center.

According to Syrians for Truth and Justice, “The percentage of the Kurdish population remaining in the sub-district during Olive Branch Operation does not exceed 20 percent, as hundreds of families were transferred from other governorates to the district after controlling it in March 2018. Settler families were brought in from the governorates of Damascus countryside, Homs, Hama, and Idlib, and they were settled in the sub-district, in addition to the families of the armed men in the ranks of the Syrian National Army militia affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood.
