Afrinpost – Special

In following-up the file of the Kurdish kidnapped women who appeared in the leaked video after the militia “Ahrar al-Sham” and “Army of Islam” stormed the headquarters of the militia “Al-Hamzeh Squad” in the occupied center of Afrin region, the “Afrinpost” was able to identify the identity of two of the kidnapees by communicating with their relatives.

Those sources confirmed that “Lonjin Muhammad Khalil Abdo” born in 1995 and her sister “Rojin Muhammad Khalil Abdo” born in 2001 appeared in the leaked video from the “Al-Hamzeh” militia prison and they were clearly seen without any doubt, noting that Rojin was at the time of the kidnapping of a minor girl, she was about 17 years old.

The sources pointed out that the “Al-Hamzeh Squad” militia was communicating in the previous periods with the families of the two girls and asked them for 10 thousand euros to release the two girls and their father, “Mohamed Khalil Abdo,” who was also kidnapped by the militia elsewhere, adding that the militia wanted to defraud them by taking over the money “financial ransom” and keep the three kidnapped.

In the context, the Afrinpost correspondent said that the communication between the two girls and their families was lost after the kidnapped women were transferred from the headquarters of “Al Hamzeh” (formerly the Asayish building) to the headquarters of the “Military Police” militia in the “Commercial Secondary School” and then to the “Al Hamzeh” headquarters in Basuta Village.

After that, information about the kidnapees were lost amid conflicting information that the Al Hamza militia took them to their headquarters in Al Bab, and some say that they are still in the basement of a villa occupied by “Hassan Al Obaid” in Basuta, and another says that they were returned to the Asayish building in Afrin.

There is also an account that says that the kidnapees were taken into Turkish territory, while “Afrinpost” could not verify the authenticity of one of these accounts to this day.

“Afrinpost” published a report about the two sisters, “Lonjin and Rojin”, that, on the night of June 25, 2018, masked gunmen stormed the house of “Mohammed Khalil Abdo”, born in 1968, in the village of Dumlia, of the district of “Mobata / Ma’batli”. They kidnapped him and his daughter, “Lonjin”, born in 1995, and took them to an unknown destination.

The report pointed out that the father’s charge was at the time, withholding taxes in the industrial zone in Afrin for the benefit of the former self-administration, just because he owned an agricultural tractors repair shop in the city’s industrial zone, while the kidnapping of his daughter Lonjin on the charge of possessing a driving certificate issued by the previous “Autonomous Administration”.

The source added that after the kidnapping of Lonjin and her father exactly nine days, in the beginning of July 2018, the masked gunmen returned to kidnap the other daughter, “Rojin Abdo” born in 2001, and her uncle “Kamal Khalil Abdo” born in 1966, from their house in the ancient Afrin neighborhood.

The kidnapees released the uncle Kamal after six months in poor health as a result of torture during the kidnapping period, to the point that he did not remember anything, without apparently daring to reveal the reason for his kidnapping, the identity of the kidnappers, the circumstances of his kidnapping, his location or how he was released in a behavior that resulted from he was threatened by the kidnappers, if he had permitted information to anyone.

Militants of what is known as the “Syrian National Army” affiliated with the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood in its Syrian branch follow the threatening and intimidating method with the Kurdish kidnapees, if they leak information to the media, or even to their closest relatives, to cover up their ongoing crimes since their occupation of the Kurdish region in mid-March 2018. .
