Turkish occupation displaced more than 91% of the population of “Qastal Mekdad” village

Afrinpost – Special

Information continues about the Turkish occupation and Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood expelling the indigenous Kurdish population from their homes in many villages in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin, in order to resettle the settlers in it, who are made up of the armed men driven behind the Turkish occupation in its policy of ethnic cleansing and change Afrin demographic.

In the context, the “Afrinpost” reporter at the center of the “Bulbule / Bulbul” district said that more than 91% of the people of the village “Qastaliye Muqdad / Qastal Miqdad” had been displaced from their homes and settler families were brought to take their place.

The reporter pointed out that only 35 of the more than 400 homes in the village, are of the indigenous Kurdish population, while the rest of the homes are settled by settler families from Ghouta, in addition to a large number of Turkmen families.

The Turkish occupation had changed the name of the village to “Seljuk Obasi” immediately after its occupation, as part of a turkifying Afrin by changing the names of its villages into Turkish names, or using the Arabized names that the Syrian regime gave during its era in these villages.

The Russian Ministry of Defense accused for the first time since the occupation of the Kurdish region of Afrin on the third of last March, by the head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Major General Oleg Goravlov, the Turkish occupation authorities that they are settling the Turkmen in areas from which the Kurds were expelled, which led to a fundamental change in Demographic composition of these regions.
