Occupation militias impose new royalties under the name of “Eidi gift” on the owners of the commercial shops in Afrin

Afrinpost – Special

Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, who are known as the “Syrian National Army / Free Army”, and under the direct supervision of the Turkish occupation intelligence, continue to impoverish the remaining indigenous Kurdish people in the occupied Afrin region, by imposing a set of royalties and practices that lead to displace them for the benefit of the settlers loyal to them.

In this regard, a reporter for the “Afrinpost” in Afrin center said that gunmen from the “Memati” group, which is one of the groups of the “Sultan Murad Brigade”, are roaming in their security sector, which is located between Etisalat Habash Street, and Nowruz roundabout, in Afrin neighborhood, for the purpose of collecting a new royalty from the commercial shops under the name of “Eidi”, indicating that the royalty amounts to ten thousand Syrian pounds for each commercial store.

The reporter added that the “Ahrar Al-Shamiya” militia imposes royalties under the name “Eidi” on all the commercial stores located in the Jenderes road in the city of Afrin.

He explained that the imposed royalties ranged between five thousand and fifty thousand Syrian pounds (pharmacies: 10,000 SP – restaurants: 50000 SP – grocery stores: 5000 SP – vegetables and fruits shops: 10,000 SP).

The incident is only a continuation of the robberies, appropriations and imposition of royalties that have continued since the occupation of Afrin, as Islamic militias in most villages impose royalties on citizens returning to their homes and properties, including royalties on their shops, olive trees, seasons and even residence in their own houses.
