A Libyan army officer said yesterday, Saturday, that the armed forces killed a prominent leader of the “Syrian mercenaries” loyal to Turkey, in the ongoing fighting on the outskirts of the capital, Tripoli, called “the butcher of Afrin”.
Libyan Army Lt. Col. Sulaiman Al-Sharef told “Iram News” that the army forces carried out an artillery bombardment on an operating room of Turkish officers in the Sa’idia axis, killing 7 members, including two officers.
Al-Sharef indicated that among the “Turkish dead people is an important element in the ranks of mercenaries, and has a long history in Syria and Iraq, and in the areas of the Kurds, called Murat Polat, known as the“ butcher of Afrin ”.
Several Libyan and pro-Syrian mercenary accounts also circulated on social media, news of the killing of Mourad Polat and six of his companions in Tripoli.
