In the context, the Afrinpost correspondent in the regional center reported that gunmen from the “Force 55” group affiliated with the militia of the “Al-Shamiya Front”, sold the house of the Kurdish citizen, “Barakat Barakat”, located in the vicinity of al-Ashrafiya park, for the third time in a row. He explained that the house itself was sold at the first time for 7500 dollars, the second time at the amount of 500 dollars, and the third time at 900 dollars.
The sales of the houses by local council of the Turkish occupation in Afrin happen during the escalation of military operations in Idlib and western Aleppo during the past two months, while observers indicated that the price that settlers buy real estate with from the local council or armed men, which may not reach a quarter of the real price of the property, It appears that it has two main objectives, the first of which is the desire of the Occupation Council and its members to earn the largest possible amount of money from the properties that the indigenous Afrin Kurds left behind, while they were forcibly displaced from their territory.
It seems that the second objective is to search for some settlers for a residence in which they will permanently reside in Afrin, as long as the military occupation is in place, without being subjected to harassment by the militants, as the settlers themselves are in some cases subjected to harassment by the militants, and extortion in order to obtain funds and royalties.
