Afrinpost – Special
The Afrinpost knew from its sources that the Turkish occupation militias are planning to conduct an accurate census of the indigenous people and settlers in all parts of the occupied Afrin region.
The sources said that the “local police” militia and Turkish intelligence issued a circular on all the mukhtars who were appointed from the occupation councils, to conduct a careful population survey in all parts of the region.
According to the form submitted to the Mukhtars, all personal information (triple name – mother’s name – age – marital status – original or displaced (settler)) must be written down, previous and accurate work.
Since the beginning the Turkish aggression against Afrin in January 2018, the Kurdish indigenous people have started displacement from the region, fearing that they will be under the rule of Islamic militias and the Turkish occupation.
The Afrinpost correspondent confirmed the end of February 2019, quoting citizens in Afrin, that the Afrin city has become foreign to its residents, and that the Kurds have become a minority in it compared to the settlers who are spread throughout the city.
Then citizen (S.A) told the Afrinpost correspondent: “What do you want, do you want to go to Damascus, go to that street, all the settlers there are from Damascus and Ghouta, you will feel that you are in Ghouta,” continuing: “Do you want to go to Homs? For that neighborhood, all of its settlers are from Homs, you will feel that you are in Homs. He added: “I do not feel that I am in Afrin, there are streets that if you walk in you will feel that you are in Deir Al-Zour, it is unbearable, we have become a minority on our land!”
