Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the demolitions carried out by the militia of “Sultan Suleiman Shah” militia of the shops belonging to of the Al-Tahtani mosque in the “Shieh / Sheikh Hadid” area in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin, in northern Syria.
According to the sources of the “Syrian Observatory”, the process of demolishing the shops carried out by the faction’s militants is aimed at excavating and stealing the antiquities in the aforementioned area.
A weekly report issued by the “Unity-Yekiti” party had indicated on January 4, that the militias of “Sultan Suleiman Shah-Al-Amshahat” continued to dig inside the old / lower mosque, in the center of the “Shieh / Sheikh Al-Hadid” district.
The report said that the excavation site has been covered with signs to conceal what is going on in it, in search of precious finds and treasures, as it is known that the mosque’s land and houses south of it contain ancient ruins.
