The Union of Intellectuals of the Kurdish region of Afrin, on Monday, launched a campaign to boycott Turkish goods in the areas of Shahba in northern Syria, following the remarkable success achieved by the campaign in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, which came as part of youth campaigns, including (boycott Turkey).
The campaign came at the initiative of the Union of Intellectuals and was launched by Afrin Civil Society Associations of displaced people in the Shahba area, under the name (for our children) to boycott Turkish goods.
Members of civil society and the Union of Intellectuals toured villages in the towns of Al-Shahba, carrying leaflets aimed at boycotting goods after the Turkish invasion expanded from Afrin to northeastern Syria.
Activists organized the largest initiative in the Kurdistan region with the beginning of the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria, where cities of the region witnessed awareness campaigns called for boycott of Turkish products and goods and replaced with the products of other countries.
Kurdish cities had seen similar initiatives during the Turkish invasion against the Kurdish region of Afrin in 2018, but they did not last and remained as temporary initiatives that later vanished, while activists are now calling for a permanent boycott.
In this context, Akram, an displaced from Afrin, said that Kurdish citizens, especially in Syria, the Kurdistan region, and Europe, should make it permanent, by always refraining from buying Turkish goods and not linking them with youth campaigns only.Turkey is always hostile to us, as much as possible
Akram also appealed to the peoples of the region in the Arabian Gulf, Jordan, Egypt and Europe to strengthen their trade relations with the Kurdish regions and to block the way to Turkish trade, in addition to their appeal to boycott everything related to Turkey.
