Islamic militias in Mahmudiya and Zaidiya, located in high-rise areas of the city center, are continuously blocking the road leading to them through the Newroz Roundabout.
The reporter, citing local Kurds, said the militias were blocking the road at “Newroz Roundabout”, fearing that the booby-traps usually sent by rival militias to those occupying the neighborhood, mostly the Ahrar Al-Sharqiya militia.
The Mahmudiya neighborhood in the city of Afrin is a stronghold of gunmen from the eastern regions of Syria as the “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya”, known for their close proximity to ISIS militants.
Since the occupation of Afrin, they have been walking barefoot in the streets of the city, saying that they will not wear shoes until they return to the eastern region, as well as know their long hair and short dress of jihadists.
The Kurdish occupied province of Afrin has been in turmoil since the Turkish military occupation in March 2018, amid repeated explosions by cars, motorcycles, or explosive devices, as a result of the dispute between the Islamic militias over the sharing of property of the displaced Afrinis, and the desire to displace the indigenous Kurds.
