Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue to kidnap and blackmail indigenous peoples in the Kurdish-occupied Afrin province, with the aim of displacing the rest of them.

Militants abducted a young man from the village of Kurzele / Qurzehel, in Sherawa district, on his return from work in Afrin on Tuesday on charges of dealing with the former self-administration, activists said.

They added that the 20-year-old Yusuf Muhammad Othman was abducted by militiamen at the checkpoint of Turenda / Zarifa village leading to Kurzele / Qurzehel village and taken to a kidnapping center in the region.

The fate of about 30 civilians from the village of Kurzele is still unknown after a raid and kidnapping carried out by the military police militia last Friday, where youths, men and elderly were kidnapped from the village.

The Islamic militias, through kidnappings, seek to fund raising by imposing financial ransoms on the families of the abducted and making charges prepared in advance, such as dealing with the YPG or former self-management.
